Wonderful Catasetum.
Beautiful white on white colors! And a very attractive plant as well - but where on earth do you have it living? It looks like it sits next to a motorcycle - does it?
sad to say they are temporary hanging on a cloth rack that i bought to hang all the orchids when the existing orchid house expired. i still owe my orchids an orchid house....sigh...
most of my orchids pic are taken with them sitting on top of the motorbike seat, its my favorite spot lighting is just nice for the photo shooting during the hot afternoon.
That is the most 'pure' white pileatum I have ever seen. Beautiful! Congrats Ian! Remember the 'pink' pileatum I was writing about some time ago. 2 months ago it produced its usual female flowers (3 years in a row) and then I rememberd your advice of putting it in the shade when the spike forms. So when I noticed the second spike a little over a month ago I followed your advice and true enough I now have male flowers for the first time. I'll wait a few more days to take pictures but from initial observation at this early stage I don't see any pink in it but plenty of spots on a light green background. I now suspect it's a variety of Cstm Orchidglade (pileatum x expansum).
hahaahahahahaa,,,,,,,,,,ROFL
somehow the bike catches a lot of attention of many forum members, initially when a friend was asking if my catasetums wanted to go for a joy ride? i was puzzled until another forum ,member pointed out that she is referring to the pot of catasetums on the bike. my attention was locked down to the catasetums till i did not notice the bike in the pic =)
Very nice pristine white.
What a huge and brilliant catasetum orchid bloom! Lovely!
cheers,
