I would be careful about stressing that one plant with the darker flowers out too much, since it seems to be in a recovery stage. If it were me, I would not allow it to set any more flowers and cut the spike after that flower drops, but that is just my opinion. It looks like it was starving for moisture at some point, so you did a good thing by adding sphagnum. Looking at the leaves, I would say it needs more light in addition to moisture.

Thanks for posting that name on the pink and white orchid. I have one that looks just like it without a name. Please post a picture when it is in full bloom!

Thank you Taylor for your reply, I just wondered about the pollination but was not really going to do it, I have the plant in an area where it gets light from about six in the morning until about six in the evening, I probably was not watering it as I could have because I was afraid of overwatering, I noticed that it looked a lot brighter in the sphagnum and will keep it there until I am satisfied that it has a strong root system, I was looking at the flower carefully and comparing it with the other one that I have and the shape is so different, I was wondering if it is a true phal or some other crossed up flower. I am also going to put a picture of a phal plant that is in a pot and I have found that the roots are outside the holes and wondered if the pot was too small now, as time goes by the pot maybe a bit too small for it what do you think, the roots are really going guns and healthy as you can see, I bought a slightly larger pot today to put it there.

Hi leafmite, well I have a pleasant surprise for you, this same pahl that I have posted about and you see in the picture, I have mounted it because I think that I should give it a chance to live as close as possible to how it is in the natural, the root system is very nice and vibrant and lots of new roots too, I think it has come a long was and was born to survive. so the picture you see here is how it is hung as suggested in some sites I have visited and including this one. if you look closely you will see the tip of a root there are some I have left like that purposely.
