    Default Schomburgkia NOID blooming

I have this with me for as long as I can remember and this has been growing nicely. The black ants really love them and in some way I think they help them grow better but I don't know why. From the pics you can see that they are all over the blooms but since they don't do any harm I just let them be.

only guessing, but isn't it tibicinis? i just ordered one, and if it is, technically it is no longer a schomburgkia anymore. it was renamed something with an M. someone posted one the other day, and this looks really similar.

Myrmechophia is what they are called now (hope spelling is correct), I have these and schombos, I don't think they are ever going to bloom! :-( One had the beginning of a spike and it faded, that is the second time it has happened!

    Gorgeous!

I read from somewhere that ants are beneficial because they keep other pests away.

the ants can actually live inside them, the bulbs are hollow. the local ants here actually farm aphids and mealies, so they are NOT welcome!
