I would be very, very careful in naming NOID Oncidiums, as so many of the crosses are so similar , to seem the same.

Understood, I am not going to be breeding it, so if it is very close, I'll have a better idea how to care for it. It does seem there are tons of crosses that look very much alike.
I'm adding a couple of quick shots of it, not so happy with the pictures, the color isn't right and the focus is iffy. The real color is more of a brick red - more brown and orange in it. The lip is more orange and less yellow. I love it, it goes with my dark red kitchen. I hope I have a chance to try for better pictures tomorrow before my husband runs off with the camera.

Looks like Burrageara Stenfen Isler 'Lava Flow' to me. Here is a bad photo of ours: Burrageara Orchid List

It's beautiful Carolla. I agree with you. It's not necessary to pin it down to an exact name. As long as one knows approximately what it is to give it the most appropriate care, that's enough for me.
It does look like the picture of the Burrageara Stenfen Isler 'Lava Flow' - so what sort of a cross is that? I've never heard of "Burrageara" before! Now my hope of pinning it down so I know how to care for it is dwindling... hehe The only label it has on it is "Oncidium", but I'm sure its a hybrid of some sort. The flowers on it look a little old, but there are buds opening, I suspect it will need emergency repotting too, as it is in a plastic pot inside a clay pot and the top was stuffed with sphagnum moss, the top of the actual medium was very soggy and mushy feeling. I'll try to get better pictures today, see if I can get good color when I take it outside and don't use the flash - the flash washes it out horribly. I'll start it's own thread.![]()
