Wonderful collection Angel how beautiful your garden when most of your Arachnis showed their beauties bravo.... looking forward your red variety.

Thank you, Zainal. I too am looking forward to that red one. I hope I got the right plant which I transferred to a sunnier spot. You see, when I first acquired them years ago, I attached them to a palm tree and have since lost track which arachnis has yellow stripes, or red stripes, or a red background color. Since that red one hasn't bloomed again, I'm not quite sure if it's the exact arachnis that I transferred.

Hi Angel not to worry soon or later the red stripes will reveal their true color just a matter of time need to wait hoping that is the one that you transferred put finger cross.

That one has red stripes (I think) on a red background. So it is red on red which makes the stripes hard to see. It looks almost like a renanthera with large flowers.

That is very unusual definitely so cool flower.

Yes they are, Jesus. These photos were taken on September 23rd. At that time the flowers were already about a week old. Until now, they still look the way they do in these photos.

That's great. I'll look for some cultural information on these, to see if I could grow them in my conditions, just in case I come across one.

These are no fuss orchids, or at least over here, because some of them are endemic to the Philippines. Do you live in a hot, sunny, humid location? If so, the arachnis would thrive in your locale. These orchids can take full tropical sun. Less sun, less blooms. They are also thirsty plants. Low humidity usually results in the loss of leaves, resulting in plants with bare lower stems. Daytime temperatures here average 32 to 33 degrees centigrade. Nighttime is usually around 24 to 25 degrees centigrade.

I would love to have some of these in my grow room, but I have learned to stick with orchids liking my climate. Cool to intermediate does best for me.

Unfortunately, it rained for 21 days which ruined many of the dendrobium and vanda flowers but not the arachnis which did not seem to mind the wetness at all. If you have a large, temperature controlled grow room, then perhaps you can grow some of these. They require space because they easily grow 15 to 20 feet tall. Arachnis are ramblers.
