Encyclia alta

I put mine in steaight lava, about 2 year's ago because of some serious root rot due ro over watering, its growing nicely and the roots are back, just no blooms. Maybe it just got set back from the damage it had and will take longer to bloom....fingers crossed

Wade, I just got my first Encyclia (an alata), so I figured I might as well go all out & get Encyclia phoenicia & Encyclia Borincana X bractescens. ONE of them has to make it! Seriously, what kind of conditions do you grow yours under? This is a new species for me so I'll take all the help I can get, LOL.

2 spikes which i have intertwined , spikes about 3ft long , note in the background ( right hand side of top piccie)the spike of Ecyclia diota is already at 4ft & growing strong.

I have had the plant for over 10 yrs so it has many pseudobulbs so it has lots of energy to produce the spikes.This is definitely it's best blooming to date, hopefully with the media change it will give a good display each year now , it has been very reluctant to bloom & i have gone 3 yrs without any spikes.So good old patients is needed & don't give up on it.

I'm getting better with having patience than I used to but still have a long way to go. And waiting three years without blooms? You certainly can't throw the plant away, so what else are you going to do accept keep on hoping it'll do something! IT SURE WAS WORTH THE WAIT, I CAN TELL YOU THAT! (I just got my three Encyclia's about 4 to 6 weeks ago so I guess I can be a little more patient )
