I recently repotted my Zygopetalum hybrid for the first time, after owning it for two years. It was initially potted in a 3.5 inch plastic pot in sphagnum moss. I moved it into a 6 inch pot in a bark, chc, perlite, sphag mixture. While repotting, I noticed that the roots are very fragile and brittle. Many of the roots snapped while I was trying to remove the old sphagnum. Does anyone else have experience repotting Zygopetalums? Will these damaged roots survive or die? Do I need to worry about them rotting and effecting healthy roots?
