Never in life. It is a complex hybrid, perhaps a 10th or even more generation hybrid, far, far removed from ny species.
Someone is having you on, Chris.
Even as a hybrid, it is pretty good . Depending on the size, it would have been award standard 20 years ago..

Perhaps he was talking about something else and I misunderstood. That's what I get for eaves dropping. The picture is about actual size of the flower.

If I view this mail on my iPhone, the flower is maybe 1 inch size ! The apparent size depends on the. Screen size ?

Award size may be 5 inches today. Way too bg for my taste.

Hadn't thought of that screen size thing. I'll be emailing him today so I'll ask him what this is and the size. I think it was far larger than 5".

Paph. Valerie Tonkin 'Hillbilly' AM/AOS is the name of this one Geoff. The species the grower was talking about was Paph. delenatii which up until it was rediscovered in the 90's? was thought to be extinct. But then you already know all this so no need for me to attempt to educate the professor Just getting my facts straight.
