I love these species very much spending a lots of $ previously but most of them vanished fortunately end of 2016 one of my friend sparked and inspired me how to grow Paphs successfully based on their experienced as a seller as well as a grower. He introduced me with pumice stones and were told majorities of Paph growers from Thailand they used it with good outcome. I was intrigued and decided to take another challenge and told myself if I'm failed this time that it.I begin with lowland types of Paphio like niveum, concolor, bellatulum exul and callosum and found it very positive. My confidence increasing tremendously as one by one they rewarded me with beautiful flowers and begin to import some highland species from Sabah like virens, roth, volunteanum, hookerae, stoneii and also sanderianum. I found as I told you previously they really love the temperature between 21 and 23 degree C as I put them in air-conditioning.Based on observation sanderianum doing the best between 22 to 23 C.
Back to your question I'm using mixture of pumice stones, dead coral and perlites. So far doing quite well for me and most importantly need to apply fungicide and insecticide weekly until we were able to remove the source of infections. Then I noticed the growth of the individual species very marked especially their leaves. Spraying the water once or twice a day depending on the weather here. For the cool grower species like tonsum try to maintain with the temperature 21 to 22 degree C. I'm still doing my experiment will observe accordingly. Hope you will gain something here.
