Update, I couldn’t sleep last night. I woke up this morning decided to get ready to cut the stem. I sterilized my tools and made the cut. The stem showed not a purple ring but what appeared to be some kind of infection. Which explains why some of the roots had been doing so poorly. The only roots with active growth tips were the ones I left on the Vanda. Everything else; nothing. I sprayed 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to sterilize and cinnamon powder to the cut stem and damaged root. Cleaned out the basket and reestablished the orchid back in it’s basket with zip ties. I did it. I cant help but feel a little heartbroken that I did this though. Hopefully now she can have a bright future and I can once again have a chance to see the gorgeous sunny blossoms that blasted into it’s entry in my growspace.
