This is the flower at two days open. I have two of this cross and two of the reciprocal cross. First to bloom has three flowers. It came to me with a little sheath, so I won't take full credit for the bloom. Presentation is a bit wonky. Not sure if it's because it was moved while in spike, or because I'm blooming under overhead lights for the first time. The background seems to be turning into a darker yellow at a week or so open. If people are interested, I'll post another photo as it matures to show the color change. Fragrance is very odd but I like it. To me, it's like kettle corn mixed with some sort of spicy perfume.

Thanks! The other three have some different growth habits. Can't wait to see the flowers. Looks like another growing season for the rest of them, although one is putting on a strong new growth so I'm crossing my fingers. It's a bit small though, so I won't be surprised if it doesn't flower this time.

We'll see. It's not happening quickly if it is. I feel like the sepals look a little darker though.

I love these. Spotty chaps. Usually have thick petals etc, or "tremendous substance" as they say, and last very well too.
I don't think flowering under lights makes any difference at all - my catts live under lights , although I turned them off for the summer, when our unique British heat wave summer started 2 months ago( Scotland, normally a rainy old place, just had its hottest day ever recorded since records began 400 years ago ....) and even here, so close to the sea, my garden got up to a shade temperature of 30 C. (86 F.) yesterday. But of course the lights also raise the temperature by a couple of degrees, I find. I'll switch them back on when our normal pattern of weather resumes, or say 8 weeks after the longest day in any case.

The substance is quite heavy. The weird fragrance is nice too. I've never grown one of these little spotties, but I can say I'm enamored with this one. I should probably back my lights off some as my grow room has been hitting 87-88 F some days. This summer is my first go round with lights so I really don't know what to expect.

It's all a learning curve, this orchid growing lark. Only it goes on for ever ! My 57th year of orchid growing, and I'm still learning. Or is it that I have forgotten what I once knew, and keep on learning it again ?
