    Default sabatia stellaris

    Very commom in our area in salt marshes, but so striking. Five colors on the bloom itself! Flowers are about two inches across.

    That is very pretty, Tami, and unknown to me. Very striking indeed, and yet simple coloration and form.

    Glad you like them. You should see a herd of them in a swale of white sand at the beach. Lovely!

    They don't mind the beach's salt air?

    I wonder how they'd do away from the beach, or if they crave that salinity?

    They are so delicate and pretty yet tough to survive the beach.

    I have found them inland, but the colors seem more vibrant at the beach. May just be the contrast to the white sand. They do seem to prefer marshy or damp areas.

    There are many flowers that are happy at the beach. Standing cypress is another one of my beach favorites. This pic (not real clear) was taken at Ft. Pickens in the National Seashore. The plants are about 3 feet tall.

    They're coming for you, uh huh, uh huh,
    They're coming for you, uh huh;

    Diane, they're coming for you, they are!
    They're coming for you, uh huh;

    They're ever so hungry and haven't been fed,
    You're ever so juicy and need to be bled;

    They're coming for you uh huh, uh huh,
    They're coming for you, you're dead!
