I was lucky with the outdoors shot.

I got it right smack in the middle, even though there was constant breeze in the nursery.
No cropping needed as well, so the bloom was right in the centre of the photo. And the lighting was just right.

It seems the outdoor shot captured the detail a little better, especially the lip.

Less than 25% of the photos are of plants that aren't mine, and I try my best to imply it.

I am not a professional photographer. I am only beginning my third year with this camera, and I am largely self-taught. I cannot understand the terms used by folks in the digital camera forum. The manual of the camera gives only the barest insights into its operations and I haven't explored those parts or functions that make up more than 50% of what can be had.

As I am only in my 4th year of growing, a lot of the plants that have been photographed are now in heaven.

BUT, I have learned a lot of things about orchid growing in the process. I steer clear of those plants that I know will not thrive in my place, although I am a bit stubborn and I am in the process of building a personal orchid haven.

That is it, in a nutshell. LOL, can you tell I am not at work today?

You should do something with your photos as all say they are great,who knows maybe a second job as a supplement the orchids!!I love photography
(not spelling!!)My mom and dad were into it they had a way of captureing things with the camera.they even developed the film.I have a bunch of pictures pasted to poster board they took.I just put a digital camera on layaway,just got to pay it off!!cant wait to snap pictures and post them here,then take more and more pictures!!

Yes Jason, the photos may end up in the second edition of The Orchids of the Philippines.

Several years down the road I may have my own book as well.

Both pictures are very nice, but I also am drawn to the outside shot. I love the way that the background adds interest and context without competing with the flower. Really good stuff! Can't believe you are fairly new with orchids and camera!
