We had to drag Molly Taco in from the screened entry last night because she was engrossed in watching this spider, who hung around until this AM so I could snap a pic. He looked totally menacing but from what I read I think that he is harmless. He measured about 1 1/2" toe to toe.

Not legs, not fangs. Pedipalps -- used to manipulate things kinda like we use our hands.

Mean, you are all just plain mean! Especially since I DID get a spider bite this weekend, which has now become infected.... not a black widow, just some 'ordinary' spider. But a delicate flower like me.... well I am just so sensitive to those things. Actually have one eye swollen shut. The damn thing bit me on the face during the night....
Any suspicious packages from Fla are getting stomped on!!!

I'd be surprised if it was actually a spider bite, Diane. Few true spiders have fangs long enough to penetrate our skin -- even that of a "delicate flower such as yourself". Especially w/ an infection, sounds more like a tick, mite, or other arthropod.

I'd rather treat the bite with Chivas than with salve - - although I don't know exactly what is in a Cajun salve....

Looks like a tarantula to me and yes the extra legs out front look like fangs. (I guess not though) Nearly all tarantulas are pretty docile. A few years ago I saw a nice looking one at a reptile show that I wanted to get. Even though she held it and thought it was "Sorta pretty", guess what the wife said?

I am sure it was looking inside to see if there was some 'delicate flower' to viciously attack. I do hear that Chivas and it's relatives are an effective repellant and cure though!
