Tami when are you heading south?
Oh gawd that is a picture of my WORST nightmare. GET IT OFF!!!!!
LOL, Doodlekitty, your avitar says it ALL!!!!!![]()
Cin, we are leaving on Sunday the 12th. I've PMed you. We are so looking forward to meeting you and Mr. Hicks and the kitties! And seeing your lovely garden, of course. We are willing to meet the spider but please no snakes! LOL!
Do I remember some conversation about an orchid grower in Myakka that shouldn't be missed? And Marie Selby Gardens of course!
Tami
Ohhh...
Us starving authors in the frozen north it's getting very close to that can't afford a trip down at this time. Sniff, sniff!
What will you drink a toast with? I want to be with you in spirit and liver...
McSorry
Looks like some type of wolf spider -- & yes to harmless [unless you're a bug].
Not legs, not fangs. Pedipalps -- used to manipulate things kinda like we use our hands.
I'd be surprised if it was actually a spider bite, Diane. Few true spiders have fangs long enough to penetrate our skin -- even that of a "delicate flower such as yourself". Especially w/ an infection, sounds more like a tick, mite, or other arthropod.
Hmmmmmm..... really doesn't make me feel any better. Yes, wolf spider was my guess. Look like him be too he do Yah man.
Pavel, "sounds more like a tick, mite, or other arthropod" C'mon, you mus hav mo' symthy for de 'fleur', she be hurtin no mattu wat de bug be! My sympathies, Diane, with I had some nice cajun salve to send.
McJulie - Chivas is on the menu. We'll toast to you but much rather toast WITH you. Aren't you due for a visit to your folks???? Pull that lip in and come to SW FL.
Tami
I'd rather treat the bite with Chivas than with salve - - although I don't know exactly what is in a Cajun salve....
Looks like a tarantula to me and yes the extra legs out front look like fangs. (I guess not though) Nearly all tarantulas are pretty docile. A few years ago I saw a nice looking one at a reptile show that I wanted to get. Even though she held it and thought it was "Sorta pretty", guess what the wife said?
Wife's name is Renee by the way.
Tarantulas don't bother me at all. I don't know why that is. I guess because they act so un-spider like. They walk so delicately... That wolf spider looks evil. I am sure it was looking inside to see if there was some 'delicate flower' to viciously attack. I do hear that Chivas and it's relatives are an effective repellant and cure though!
