Hi Dblues, welcome to the forum. The first orchid you have pictured there is a type of dendrobium. The second is a phalaenopsis. These both have different light and water needs. For information on your dendrobium, check out our member, Orchid_Man's post on What Type do I have
Care for your phal can be found here and lots of information can be found in our Orchid Links Section too.
Enjoy!
Cheers,

You've got pretty plants there. The first one is a nobile type dendrobium and the second one is a phal.
The phal will be a easy windowsill plant. If you want the best blooms, give it plenty of light. You will find these blooms last a long time
The dend noblie requires a temp drop and drying (neglect) in order for it to bloom. I can't tell if this one is from a line of breeding for easier to grow plants, but I have a feeling it is because of the shape of the bloom. Some of these easy-to-bloom bred ones are the best because they will not drying or as cool much of a temp drop in the winter to initiate bud as regular nobiles, making them better houseplants. Any name tag in the pot for the dend, it can tell exactly what you have. Give it plenty of light (more than the phal), it will grow like a weed.
Welcome to the forum! glad to have you join us. You picke two very nice plants!
