    No matter how many different plants of L. anceps were involved (line breeding), this is still a species. I have never seen any indication or implication that 'Iriwin's' is not a species.

    Michael's absolutely right. "Irwin's" is a Laelia anceps species, not a hybrid.

    The flower is quite big, 5" in diameter or so. I will measure it tomorrow again.

    A cross between two clones of the same species is still a species, not a hybrid.

    Sorry, i didnt mean it like that, Irwins is a species, although it is probably been bred through several good plants of L. anceps, thats what i meant by hybrid. It think the word im looking for is varient.

    Lovely bloom... I just mounted all the anceps that I have left. Put them in large fern fiber baskets and turned them all on their side. I will probably regret this come bloom time again. I will be battling 4 foot plus spikes.
