Is this a Pholidota?

I suspect its a Pholidota but I looked at the orchid species site and couldn't find a pic that match. I appreciate any help for the ID. TIA


Flowers are around quarter of an inch tall and fragrant.

The flowers seem to be more open than other Pholidota's I could find on the web. It is very similar though. Hopefully Nelson or someone that grows this species will see this thread soon and give you an answer.

Only seven living species of mammal are included in the Pholidota, the pangolins or scaly anteaters.

Based upon images of the inflor with the big orangish bracts and the plicate leaves I would call this Pholidota chinensis.

Orchidman, I googled P chinensis and the flowers look different. I have P articulata and the flowers are bigger and the growth is completely different from this one.

Clint, its called Pholidota maybe because the spike when it emerge looks like the tail of rattle snake, scaly.

Getting to species is very difficult with just an image or two. I looked at the many species listed on the Kew website for Pholidota and image searched them. The flower does not look quite right for any of them. Maybe a hybrid of 2 or more??? Or maybe not pholidota at all. Anyone know of close relatives to Pholidota?

ok, when it comes plant id I am obsessive. It is difficult to do with photos but I am knoown to be very good at it. This is difficult. I will not give up until I figure it out!!!! Take a look at

Bulleyia yunnanensis. Maybe? IDK. I looked at all of the closely related genera and this is really the only one that resembles it. The HUGE floral bract is what attracted me to this image.
