dend canes stunted

I recently asked about new growths in a catt that almost didn't make it and everybody said that yes, those would be smaller for 3-4 new growths. My question is what about Dend canes?

I have a NOID that lost all of its leaves over the winter and spring, probably due to the change over to my conditions. I was about to give up on it and it started 2 new canes. These grew for a while and put out lots of roots in the spring but then virtually stopped growing altogether. Is this normal?

Yes, that's normal. They'll sometimes "stall" like that for no apparent good reason, only to take up again the next growing season. A lot of people repot when a plant stalls--that sometimes helps to "wake them up" and get them growing again.

is it an okay idea to repot (for someone in my climate) this late in the season or should I wait until Spring? I would be changing mediums also. Thanks!

As long as you don't have any aerial roots that you'd be sinking into the pot, I don't think repotting now would hurt a bit. Do it carefully, without trying to clean off every last shred of old medium so you disturb the roots as little as possible.

If you are thinking of repotting that Den into S/H wait until spring. In my experience Dendrobiums are the ones that really sulk upon transplanting unless roots are in active growth.
