Alternatively, you could release a few ladybugs (Hippodamia convergens). Ladybugs really prefer to eat aphids, but if there are no aphids, they will also eat spider mites. The cool thing, is once they've eaten all the mites, you can just suck them up into a clean dustbuster, it won't hurt them at all. Then just put them back in the fridge...

I have some plants inside my fish tank suffered spider mite damage. I believe they might spread as bad as in dry environment, but they do survive in high humid fish tank. But the oil solution did get rid of them.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for this post!! I was pruning my mini-roses this morning, and to my horror I found spider mites!! I knew I didn't want to buy any gross chemical insecticides since these plants live on my apartment windowsill...so I looked around the internet, and didn't find any great advice...and then I thought, "Of course! I'll look on the orchid forum!" And sure enough, after searching 'mites', I found this post and it saved my roses

I just started the application today - I'll probably do it for 6 weeks, every 7 days. Thank you for posting this question, and Ron for your great instructions!!
