Hi all..
Here is another lot of photos of the soft canes.There are so many variations.They are all beautiful.
Also here is a photo of the big delicatum as promised (over 1.5m wide) and very scented. Another garage sale find.What a beauty...
My phiaus is also now in flower. A spectacular native from around these parts I have been told..It's a gem..
Can someone help me with my dockrillia..I have tried growing it on on slab of fern,then a pot, now in a hanging basket..It seems to have a mind of it's own.Anyone out there who has a very happy one might like to pass on a few tips..

Wow....what a beautiful collection of dendrobiums!! I am beginning to collect a few of the rather easy ones. Maybe someday I'll try a couple Nobile types. They are just so beautiful....

The soft cane dends appreciate bright light and a lessening of water and coolish temps to rebloom.

I think I see Dend. kingianum in there as well...I killed mine so I'm offering no cultural tips

The epidendrum is wild and likes to sprawl...cool!

the kingianum should get bright light but needs a cool dry rest. I mover mine outdoors as early in the spring as I can. It stays moist during growth. It stays out until right before the first frost and then comes in to a south facing "green house" window, over my kitchen sink, where it stays cool and dry until the spikes start breaking the sheaths in late winter. I then start watering them again. Only feed D. kingianum with a low nitrogen fertilizer or you will get keikis instead of flowers. If you should develop some keikis during the year, and some clones will, leave them on the plant until after they flower in late winter and then remove the keikis and pot them up for trading. ...this cultural info was taught to me by Dr. Wilford Neptune. He had won many awards for his kingianums.

I find that D. kingianum also does well in S/H culture.

From the growth habit, the look of the plant/leaves and the flowers, I think your Dockrillia might be Dockrillia teretifolia var. aureum (aka D. dolichophylla). It could also be a hybrid too between D. striolata and D. teretifolia, although I think it is more likely to be the species.

Hi all..Thanks to Clint,Ron and Hoa for the tips..The big kingi lives outside in semi shade all year,we don't have frosts here.It usually gets whatever weather throws up and a regular feed when growing.Thats it.So hardy...It's now time to start feeding all the soft canes that have finished.There are plenty of new shoots on all of them.Will take awhile.Better make a move..John
