After the international flower show I kept on calling the local orchid supplier for new stuff... Every week I asked and they said "not now!... Please wait a few more days..." until this week I finally had a "Oh yes, please come and visit... we have a whole lot of new phals"... So I grabbed the cash and dashed outside...
There were lots of new phals there... Pure whites, yellows, purples and even one BIG phal with around 9 leaves and pink flowers 5 inches across... (It looked blotchy and mosaic-y so I ignored it...) but these two caught my eye and I bought them... The yellow one was the most attractive and unusual among the yellows because the others were almost plain yellow but this one has those nice red spots and pink center... it has leathery/thick petals and its very durable... (its very slightly fragrant... if you call Clivias fragrant, this one is too... I stick my nose to it every time to recognize the scent!...)... it has another flower stalk growing... The other one is very large and the flower stem is almost as thick as a pencil... the vein like patterns are very bold and I love it!... (Gotto remove the striped/veined phal hybrid from my wishlist and change it to something else!!!)...
All plants are in perfect condition with lots of healthy/firm roots...
Right after bringing the plant home I pollinated them... I Crossed the two and even "Stole" one pollinia from the huge pink one there!... I'm going to try some of my refrigerated "Pink Polka" pollen soon... The pollinated flowers shriveled up in a blink of an eye...My first phal has grown a new leaf and the seedpod is still developing... its been around 4 months now and I cant wait to grow them on agar...
By the way I have "NO ID"ea what these hybrids are called... Any help will be appreciated...
Thanks for taking time...
