I was away on business for about 3 weeks taking 4 states (Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, Utah) in stride. I left my wife to tend to all the orchids. When I got home I had 3 cattleyas showing new growths, 6 phals showing new leaves, the phrag had a new growth, the oncid intergenerics had either tonz of roots sprouting or showing new growths. Needless to say I won't hesitate for a second to let my babies with my baby
There's an orchidfest being held this weekend in town here and of course we went yesterday. I knew I wasn't going to buy much as I was only looking for mini oncids (twinkle in particular), novelty paphs, or my first mini cymb. I couldn't find anything that I really wanted, however, my wife did find something she liked. This is the first time she was pushing to buy something, usually it's me wanting something and her trying to stop the purchase. I told her for $35 the phal was not worth it. I kept on walking around and 5 minutes later I saw her walking around with the phal she'd been looking at. I asked her why she would spend $35 for something that I didn't like (I did like it but I have so many phals already). She looked at me and smiled. She had managed to get it down to $20, something I would never have been able to do.
Yes she's been bitten by the bug too and will now accompany me happily to any show or sale. Happy me!!! Here's a picture of the phal SHE brought homeand a picture of my complete collection on the 2 stands and the phone table (or orchid table as it is known now).
Yes I am aware that there are 1.5 empty shelves.
