Someone sent me this. Is it a joke. They call it a Parrot Flower. Is it an Orchid? Here is what they say:
"This is a flower from Thailand.
It is also a protected species and is not allowed to be exported.
This may be the only way we will be able to view this flower."
No, it is not an orchid. I have heard of this, but don't know much about it.

It looks similar to impatians, we call himalayan balsam in the UK. I'm sorry but it definately is not an orchid
Easy to see why they call it Parrot flower. I like it!
It's not an orchid, but is pretty! I only heard the name, but know nothing about it. You get to enjoy it!
The leaf structure also indicates that it is most likely a dicot, so it rules out being part of the orchid family.
