I've had this chid about 1 yr and recently it has developed this problem, actually it happened after I put the chids outside for the summer. It seems to only have affected the older leaves on the plant. Appreciate any help in identifying the problem.

To me it looks like Sun burns followed by some kind of bacterial disease. Is the black spot dry and hard or soft, moist and mushy?? In the later case I would suggest you to cut open the dark spots with a sterile scalpel and then spray with a fungicide and bactericide.

i agree, does look like a fungal infection... you can look for a 'systemic' fungicide which the plant will take up into it's system as well to combat these types of problems.

Yep...sunburn + water on the leaves = fungal..

The black spot is hard and dry. I'm so glad that the concensus is fungal. Will try Physan and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks to all who responded.

It is a good sign that the dark spot is hard and dry. It means that the infection has been contained. The spot is more of a scar. You want to keep the leaves dry before nightfall or the infection may occur again.
