Default Sobralia is strutting its stuff

After four years my 'blooming size' Sobralia is strutting its stuff.

I first became interested in sobralias in 1962 in my 'Indiana Jones' days, when I spotted some near the road in southern Mexico.

In spite of their short-lived flowers, Sobralia macrantha is spectacular, and it is also a rarity in that this orchid has attractive foliage.

It's in a greenhouse in bright light, and it is potted in coconut husk chips. I have read that as long as there is good drainage you can't overwater it, and the coconut chips certainly drain and aerate well, so I water it every day.

They can be grown in the ground where the climate permits that, but I am in NW Arkansas.
