Default Spiranthes lacera- Slender Ladies tresses

Now for the Arkansas native orchids in bloom from today's trip to Newton County Arkansas, near the Buffalo River. The first is Spiranthes lacera. Spiranthes lacera is different from Spiranthes tuberosa (Little ladies tresses) in that lacera has a tiny bit of green in its bloom center. I will post the tuberosa in the next thread and you can see it is pure white.

We saw many of the tuberosa today, but only a few of the lacera.

    Cheers,

I see the green on this one now. Thank you for telling us the difference between these two Spiranthes species.

Very pretty, I like those guys.
    Is it fragrant?
I grew a spiranthes cernua at some point and it smelled delicious ...

I did not smell anything, Laurent. Maybe Olin can chime in if he sees this post.
