For those of you who grow your chids in pots and like to use clear/translucent pots, here is a recycling thought. Del Monte, the can goods company sells a fruit product that comes in a 3" x 3" container. I purchase it at one of the Big Box Food stores; 12 servings per case. I believe you can find the same item in a regular grocery store and there are other "flavors" if grapefruit isn't your cup of tea!
After consuming the contents and rinsing it out, I use a large screw with a sharp point wrapped in duct tape to give me something smooth to grasp as I turn it into the bottom of the container for drainage holes. You could also place holes on the sides as desired.
The container has a recessed center on the bottom and is six-sided so I place six holes around the perimeter.
Then remove the plastic label and you have a 3" pot ready for that seedling or small chid who someday will grow up into a bigger pot!
