I bought this orchid in bloom 2 years ago. I really loved the blooms. Last year it spiked but the spike never developed which was my fault. I had been giving it a shower every week and am sure that caused the spike not to develope. I put it out side this summer and by the end of August it started to spike and also send up a new growth. I brought it indoors in September and am presently growing it in my South facing bathroom window. It gets watered once a week and no longer gets a shower--LOL The spike still looks good but I see no buds developing inside it. Was wondering if I am doing something wrong. The plant is healthy and the new growth is growing quickly. Any advice on getting this baby to bloom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Bill

give it time Bill...buds form after the spike get's some length on this one, if I recall correctly

The spikes do get long. Mine is in bloom now. I'll post a picture soon. I've also been told not to cut the spikes since they may rebloom on the same stem.

I bought mine in spike and I seem to remember it taking its time to decide to bloom, so it might need a little more patience.

I have found that I tend to see more spikes and blooms when the plants are stressed a little, for instance if I get busy and miss a watering, or the weather gets cold and there is a larger variation in nighttime vs daytime temperatures in the house. (could be a superstition based on a mistaken observation, has anyone else seen this?)
