As abiom said Coelogyne rochussenii are in bloom now. Compared to previous years the blooming season this year is about a month late and the number of spikes too are greatly reduced - to about half as abiom mentioned. I have 2 pots blooming now with about 20 spikes to each pot; and about 30 flowers to each spike. the flowers measure 1 3/4 in or 4cm and all on a spike open at the same time. They are very fragrant - like orange blossoms. By the way I have given away 5 pots - the last two just recently while they were in buds. If there is no rain the flowers should last at least a week.
You may notice the orchid house is in a bit of a mess as I have been extending the grow area by another 120 sq feet and tidying up. Still some work to do. All this after an ultimatum from the Mrs no more new orchids until you tidy up the grow area. So what's a guy to do?
