Need help: Orchid Leaves turning Yellow

I am based out of Mumbai, India. I got some plants and grown up seeds in bottle, now the help I want is that after repotting the orchids are in shade for last 2 weeks, I water them every alternative day. Now I am seeing some of the leaves are turning yellow…. Need to help and suggestion. Is it a sign of repotting, watering or lack of sunlight?

Hi,
I would guess your yellow leaves might be from over watering and also the plant being in complete shade. They like light and I've found the only time my plants like a to stay wet is when I put them outside in the summer and they get rained on a lot with lots of breeze to help dry them out, other wise I let them dry between waterings. Do you have a windowsill that gets filtered light or morning light. That would be the best right now.

I have no experience growing in India ,but would imagine you don`t get cool temperatures ?
Not knowing what the orchid is is difficult to give advise.
The charcoal potting mix looks dry to me ,so i would water then let slightly dry between watering ,i feed 3 times then water only then the cycle starts over -are you feeding?.
Give bright light but not direct sun ,are you growing outside ? What temperatures are you growing in?Your shade maybe bright light in the UK !:-)

The orchid on the left may be from getting too cold. Dens don't like the cold and this is what happens when they get too cool.

THe one on the right could be from overfertilization.

Thanks for the response. In India, we have a warm climate... even during this time of the year..... supposed to be the winters. We get bright sunlight during the day.
So the pots are not kept outside...but on the windowsill... they get some indirect light from the glass window.... Watering is done every alternate day... orchids are grown on charcoal base....
Please suggest if anything needs to be changed...

even under full sun (with shade mesh ranging 30-60 percent) we only water our dens once to twice a week. They like it dry more than anything. It sounds to me like with the small amount of sun they get, maybe to much water.

Unfortunately when dens get stressed, they show that classic leaf drop, yellow that progress to brown and falls off. It happens under too cold weather, too much water, not enough water, poor lighting for to long.......ect. But lighting will usually affect the color of the plant as a whole, not just the leaf.

No experience with charcoal but it looks just as porous as our gravel or cinder that we use. Dens prefer to stay on the drier side no matter what though. If the roots are brownish, probably too much water. They should be nice and white.

I grow orchids in Chennai(India). Water it only 2 times a week and in between watering spray the full plant with some good liquid fertilizer once a week. Keep it in a window sill where it will get one hour of morning or evening sunlight.

Thanks Senthil, Is there any spl fertilizers for Orchid that you use? can you pls name the one you are using currently.

BTW, since how long you are growing orchids and where do you get the plants in chennai.

There are 2 types available, one is Gromor 19:19:19 or Organic Liquid Fertilizer which is also 19:19:19. In chennai few nurserys have orchids.

Hi Pillairp, When potted in charcoal, I would recommend everyday watering, for a climate like Mumbai, keep your plant hanging over other house plants so that it increases the relative humidity. from the looks of it, it seems to be a plain case of insufficient humidity. An east or south window should be just fine for the light. Also make sure that the orchid leaves are not touching the window glass as it can get quite hot with the direct sun. And lastly dont worry dendrobium canes are the toughest things out there, sheeding of leaves is natural as the canes mature, just be patient.
