Dend with purple leaves

I've read in some earlier posts about plnats getting purple leaves just because they are getting maximum light and there is no need to worry about it.
Only one of my dendrobiums is showing suddenly also purple leaves and I just wanted your confirmation if the above is also the case with it or maybe I should be alarmed?

No alarm necessary. Den's love alot of sunshine and will bloom profusely after a nice sunny exposure. The red in the leaves is sort of their version of a tan. If they begin to get burn spots they may need some mid-afternoon shading.

K, I haven't read everyone's responses, so if this has allready been said, just ignore it. Some viruses can cause purple in leaves, but if it is because of lots of light, if you remove it from that bright light, the purple pigmentation will go away after maybe a few weeks. On of my cattleyas will go back to green very quickly when I take it back out of the light. I would just take some pictures of it the way it is now, put it in a much shadier spot for a week, and then take more pictures and compare.

That looks like normal pigmentation streaks.
They are more pronounced on young leaves and tend to fade away as the leaf matures.
Also note that some dendrobiums naturally show more purple on their leaves compared to other dendrobiums.

I agree with you, John. Only thing to add is that if the orchid bloom is in the red to purple range, sometimes this also shows up in the leaf color as the plant is exposed to high light levels.

One of my Dendrobium species does the same thing.... It is growing fine and has been happy for years.

Hey Guys sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I'm back!!
My Den's, Epicats and Nodosa's are doing the same thing. Was a bit concerned at first, until the Nodosa bloomed. I then figured that if they bloomed and continued to look healthy despite the shading, I didn't have much to worry about. I would say to just continue on it's regular feeding and watering schedule, and it should do well for you.
