I've just bought a beautiful new Phal at the Ottawa Orchid Society show and a Paph too. But when I bought my first orchid a few months back, it came with over packed/over watered moss that rotted the roots.
I was lucky enough to find a Paph at the show with a bark mix that seemed perfectly tended (just the right amount of water).
As for the Phal, I looked everywhere but couldn't find one that wasn't crammed with moss and lots of water.
I settled on a really nice Dtps. Shu Long Beauty KV704.
(when saying settle, I just prefer humid bark)
Looking to avoid the problem I had with my first orchid, would you repot a new blooming Phal if you were concerned about too much water in the spag?? I'm unsure if doing so would spoil the 10 blooms on 2 spikes, yet I fear not repotting could end in a repeat scenario of rotten roots as my first purchase....what do you experienced orchid mages think?
