how to deadhead a dendrobium?

hi i am very new to both this,and orchids i have a polar fire i think its called but the flower is finished do i leave it or cut it off if so where do i cut? since buying that i now have 8 diffrent ones (think i am addicted) so if any one can help many thanks regards sue

On a dendrobium, the spike comes out of the P-bulb at the top. You can go down to where the flowers nodes start and cut just below the first node. A node is the spot where the flower used to be attached to the flower spike. Some also let the spike turn brown and dry out before they cut it off. It is up to you....

I recommend letting it turn brown before cutting it off. This way you do not have to worry about any infection at the cut.
