Keiki rescue

How do I go about seperating this keiki from the dead mother? the roots are still soooooo tiny on the keiki but the mama isn't alive anymore, and have been advised to go ahead and cut off the mama. Where do I cut it? and the roots are still less than an inch. I want to keep this keiki...this was my very first phal....The bottom leaf is already rapidly declining...please help!

Oh I forgot to mention...this looks like a mother plant but its actually the keiki...you can kind of see the dead dried up crown of the mother in the 3rd pic. Its below that dying leaf

I'm not sure....i'm guessing some form of the spag and bag method maybe? Hopefully the plant is large enough to hang in there till the roots catch up.

Leave it be until it grows more roots.
