need to repot Psychopsis

Hi all...While I was doing some routine watering and fertilizing today, I noticed that my psychopsis has that tell-tale stench of rot at the bottom of its pot. I have read many posts related to the sulking of these plants when they are repotted, however, I will not hesitate to do so. My question concerns the spikes. I know that I saw a post or two that referenced the plants absolute drive to bloom and that they can bloom themselves to death. So...cut the spikes or leave them? Are they so driven that they would respike and waste energy?

I'd leave them, wait until the plant shows you a problem before you chop. . If the plant starts to drop leaves, IE if you notice a slow yellowing of any leaves, I'd consider cutting the spikes then.

I would repot and cut the spikes, but I let mine bloom to death so don't listen to me. lol. Good luck with yours.
