Last yr. a friend had this growing in the ground in his yard and he "ripped" a piece out and gave it to me and voila, it bloomed. No Fragrance. He says it is "maculata" I have my doubts .
What do you think?

Maybe a cross with maculata? Maculata has more spots on the lip, and the shape is a bit different.

I don't know the name...but you say it was growing in the ground?? Where exactly does your friend live?? One of mine that is in this family is in bloom. They are so huge and pretty...
That is no maculata. It is a hybrid IMO. Still nice though.
Nice brassia no mater what the name is.
