I bought this vanda last year and by the description and trophy it had just won at a show I believed the name to be correct. Just wondering if it is.

Hi Ron,
I got this vanda ? species, the character of the flower totally different, this one the size of the flower itself about 1 inch, small ,very fragrant the plant huge may reach 2 meter and vanda Maurine the blooms even bigger more than 2 inches dominated by tricolor as parent.
Hi Ron,
I think might be this is Vanda Maurine Dalton maybe I'm right or wrong, as you can see the original bensonii the petals almost flat even the lip wider, the throat got yellow patch and not curving backward. You can see the image below. I got Vanda bensonii but not in bloom yet.
Zain & Ron, the V. Maurine Dalton you are looking at on OOL belongs to a friend of might who actually got my plant for me. My plant & my friends plant were bought together as seedlings from a species grower. Mine came direct from the previous owner after winning Best Species in a major show, shown as bensonii. The judges are used to seeing species and messed it up big time. The flower I posted measures 40mm, its really small, actually smaller than the other tricolor I have. A post with pics in 2 other forums from a grower in Thailand basically confirms it as a variety of V. tricolor. Its perfume helps a lot also.
A photo of a genuine V. Maurine Dalton hasn't been found yet so I don't know how anyone can say this is one. All the pics refer to the pic in OOL which is a tricolor, as mine is.
That could be a variant of Vanda tricolor. I have three different types of V. tricolor from West Java, Central Java, and Bali. They show different pattern of spot, and yours looks similar to V. tricolor from West Java. I wonder if your vanda emits strong sweet fragance in the morning. If yes, I bet that could be one of those tricolor or has tricolor blood in it.
