Paph venustum hybrid

Regrettably I have forgotten the other parent name , and oits a lost label job -it's a plant I raised from flask, and it was the first paph flask I ever attempted, maybe in 1987 or thereabouts. Something or other "ozzie" x venustum, as I recall it. Flowers are very long lasting, beautiful mottled foliage too.

Definitely not - it was not a species, but a hybrid - a complex one too . I must have a dozen 35 mm colour slides of this, labelled with the name , but they are somewhere amongst 5000 orchid slides in my garage....at one time I did Paph "talks" to orchid Societies in Uk - I "held" the UK National Collection, but this is all ancient history - I have been off the Lecturers list for at least 7 years, ( I am an old man, in case you hadn't guessed from the way I ramble on ! ) . If I can find the file of the lecture notes it is possible that this hybrid is mentioned - but it maybe on the external hard drive storing the files from the last computer before one, and it gets to be a lot of hassle to find it.

and if you look a bit further, P.Caroline Hands is named for my mother, P. Joyce Hands is for my wife, and that's only in the paphs... but I fear I am being immodest - it's just that I have been growing for 49 years, and rolling stones do garher moss, whatever they tell you...

A real beauty Geoff. Those credentials of yours are very impressive indeed and I love your ramblings and your occasional rumblings as well( esp the recent posts on the reclassifications ). Could it be due to the fact that we are both in our seventies or is it just that you Dorsetmen seem to be able to strike the right chords ..... I can think of two others that I like Hugh Whittingstall of 'River Cottage and Thomas Hardy.
