Thanks for sharing, Martin. Read about the new discoveries. I read that some new species of animals too, particularlt frogs. Your friend Linus must be very proud to have a new species named after him. Congrats to him.

Hi Yew Sung. Yes the area has yielded 250 news species including frugs, fish etc. Beside orchid, it discovered 27 new species from the Custard Apple family, Annonaceae. Just cn't imagine we can still find so many new species.

Very interesting Martin esp the Annonaceae as most of our cultivated varieties are from Central and South America.,Just goes to prove how much work still has to done regarding our own fauna and flora. So happy that you and your friends are directly involved in the research and discovery. Time for our own people to stand up and be counted.Syabas Martin.
Yes , Yew Seng . This is an interesting family of plant , e.g Cananga odorata from this region is being use to make Chanel#5 perfume. By the way, a 2 vol books , Orchids of Mt. Kinabalu wld be launched next month by a local publisher. Some of the new orchid species will be mentioned there.
