I hope it is a spike, but usually spikes are a bit more pointed and new roots are more round like this one. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is a spike though!! Be sure to let us know.

    Cheers,
    BD

Oh bummer!! Yeah, everyone says root Sad!! Oh well. Someone said that vanda spikes start a bit higher on the plant? Probably. Do vanda's bloom at a particular time of year? Someone told me they need a cold spell? I'm so confused! This is my "challenge plant"

Hi Becky, look like a root so green and rounded.
Most of my vandas they produce the spikes after5 inches exception for cristata, pumila. However in the wild some of vanda like insignis, lamellata, flores(lombokensis) the keiki even 2 inches already producing spikes.
Depending the origin of vanda, like my denisoniana blooms 3 to 4 times a year maybe hot temperature, coerulea also 2 to 3 time.
"Cold spell" I agree with this statement especially for vandas from Indochina.
