Hi,
About 2-3 weeks ago (only a gues-ti-mate), I started noticing some small spiders and webs on a few of my plants and various objects in my greenhouse (under benches, around exaust fan, above and around the door in places...etc.). In fact, I wouldn't have even given them a 2nd glance outside the gh because they just look like little spiders you see here, there and yonder...grass, etc. I thought I should ask you about them since they're near my orchids, though. The webs are mostly noticeable when I have my misters on (especially on objects because I don't like to get my plants wet, if poss.). None actually look alike and they're much larger than a spider mite, so I immediately ruled mites out. They're doing no harm that I can see...my plants look fine. In fact, they are pest-free, as far as I can tell. The only exception is 1 mealy bug I found yesterday who is now history.

I haven't tried to kill them or make a special point of tearing down their little webs because I thought they may be beneficial. I've been guessing they are probably the reason my orchids seem to be pest-free. ?? (I saw one dragging a little ant across his web on the back of a phal mount this morn.)

Bottom line: Do you think these various little spiders are beneficial or harmful? Should I try to kill them, or leave them alone? I'm sorry...my camera doesn't take close-up pictures well, so I have no photos for you to see.

I would appreciate your advice and/or comments...
Vicki
