Orchid Help needed!

Hello!
I have 3 orchids that are beautiful and healthy but i had visited my friend one weekend and I went to throw something away and i found an orchid that her roommate had thrown away the leave was a neonish green yellow and has the purple color on the rims and on the bottom. I have read that it is really impossible to kill an orchid but i am scared this one wont make it any advice? Last night i cut the stems off completely just so you guys know

Time to repot that phal orchid. It is currently over-potted and appears to have root damage (probably root rot).

First step is to take it out of that old medium and huge pot. Wash the roots with pure water and remove any squishy or rotten roots. Then take another photo and let us take a look. If it has some good roots, you can repot it. If it doesn't, you can spag and bag it. Hopefully it will have some viable roots.

I think the color of the leaf, with that redish purple edge, indicates it was getting too much light.

Looks pretty damn good actually. Cindi, I find that i get optimum spikeage when the plant is in about 75% light, when it gets the purple pigmentation. Mind you, different ends of the world may yield different results? Who knows? Now i would use a medium bark chip to pot this, possible with a small amount of sphagnum moss. Kiwi orchid bark has much better water resistance capabilities, meaning the roots wont be sitting in moisture until they are hardened up a bit, as the bark starts to hold water for short periods after aprox 4 weeks.
