ROTFLMAO! Gin,
Thanks for posting this. I just loved some of the names, for example, Hanged Man Orchid, Dead Horse Orchid and, especially for Mr_Breeze if he's out there, how about the common name of Angraecum magdalenae: "Queen-of-the-Angraecums".
I think everyone should peruse this list--the imaginative, evocative names are wonderful!
Cheers,
Rob (in Denver for one more hour!)
OMG that's great. What a list!
I wonder which would be harder to remember, the actual names or the common ones? (Course, who'd be able to forget the "Fried Egg Orchid"?) That one killed me.
Please send one dead horse , must be in bloommust be a reason for the name

Let's just hope it doesn't follow in the foot steps of Amorphophallus rivieri, my father has a TON of those things, I know them wellOriginally Posted by Gin

Gin-What a great link...I'm having fun learning what they translate as. I've added it to my favorites. Thanks!
Matt
None of them named "Dead squirrel orchid"?I love the fried egg orchid, sunny side up...lol.
BTW, the Frangipani is also commonly called fried egg flower, sunny side up.
