Finally - the coveted Zygo!

Along with my cochleatum, I finally found a local nursery yesterday that had several zygos. They weren't sure which which species of zygo this will be - they had the primary specimens in bloom, but I chose one with a heavily-budded spike and no id tag. I think we can figure that out once it blooms.

Anyway, like my new cochleatum, I'm excited about a new species and would love some of the wisdom of the ages to help start out right.

I'm just hoping and praying that I don't manage to bud-blast them - I've been known to be very good at that.

Neither do mine - I was on the verge of ordering a much more expensive (and less mature) plant when I happened to run into this at a local orchid nursery. Perhaps I should have bought several more!

Looks nice! Cant wait to see the flowers.. I actually just got a zygo. yesterday, I probably overpaid for it but I have been craving one of these for a while; A zygo was one of my first orchids actually (I killed it )

Oh, good - this is my first - we can see if we can keep them alive together!

Looking forward to the blooms. I haven't grown a zygo in a long time. I always like the blue-purple of the blooms though.

definitely!.. I think my first ones potting medium was too broken down and i kept it too wet so it just rotted, I hear that you have to keep these in just the perfect size pot (just big enough for about one and a half years growth) and repot them like every year (usually just after flowering)... Hopefully both of ours will live!
