Epidendrum Nocturnum in bud

I am beyond excited. I have struggled with a Enc. Tampensis for 2 1/2 years with no success. I have had this plant for about three months now and it's already budding for me! I hear they don't bloom for very long and sometimes the flowers self pollinate and don't open at all. I'm crossing my fingers I'll catch this one as it's opening. I don't care if I have to stay up...I'll get good pics. One pbulb has two buds and so far the other has one. Happy Dance Time....

This will be a Beauty when it opens and fingers crossed it will do before self pollinating. Nice large flowers around 14cm if i remember correctly. :-)

Hopefully you have one of the ones that opens all of the way!.. Mine does and its bloom lasted for about a month, so Im sure that you'll catch it .. the fragrance is very nice, and as the name implies, the fragrance is strongest at night

I thought the flowers only stayed open a day? I hope you are right about the month...that would be very nice.

Hummm...I don't have that particular one, but most encyclias stay in bloom for a rather long time...at least mine do...Betty
