Stunning Thrixspermum orchid bloom. Hope someone will recognize it for you. It does look a bit like Thrixspermum leucarachne to me.

It's all a can of worms, Mietek. This is a plant I provisionally call Thrixspermum centipeda, and that may change any time. We have been seeing a species complex within the Philippines which involve closely related plants, differing mostly in the angle of the labellum in relation to the spur, and the shape of the callus.

Hi Wally, even also the callus coloration is strange to me. Look at the pictures of my Thrixspermum centipedia from China and this from Philippines.

Jim and i identified this one as Thrixspermum rostratum, but i dont know if its in his new book as such.
i know Wally doesnt agree, coz on one of the type sheets there is a note saying, "lip cinnabar red".
from all the flowers i've seen, there was always a purplish coloration on it.
but thats just colors, other than that, everything else matched the original description.
