My plant has 4 spikes this year ; I'm not sure if they are still opening or just closing, as I have been away ; but they are not at their best - although I thought still worth a posting. The pan is 5 inch dia, btw.

Love the macro photo. What lens did you use for that?
A 60mm AF MicroNikkor f2.8 , set at f22 1/60th, + speedlight ( which is more or less a standard setting for many of my pics ) . An ancient lens - I must have had it 25 years . Will do 1:1 on 35mm film stock , but on a Nikon digital body there is a factor of 1.6 :1 somewhere, and I think this means that it will do 1.6 to 1 - on the sensor, that is.
nice fireworks Geoff. ;-)
Lovely bulbo Geoff - I think they are open.
cheers,

Nice species... wonder if there are any hybrids with it..
Anyone who hybridises orchids with flowers this small - and some folk do - have far better eyes than mine !
But how can anyone hope to improve on this species anyway ?
Very pretty. Love the firework display.
