My Cymbidium Corsage - Our belated wedding reception 10.9.11

Phillip and I were married in February, but, because of my chemo treatment, my family held off the (small) wedding celebration until we came up to Maine this month. We both had beautiful green cymbidium corsages and my kids gave me the orchid (they use real one) necklace dipped in gold from Singapore (Oh, and I snuck in a shot of the centerpiece with roses and hydrangeas).

The gold orchid - I thought it might be a species phal, but perhaps someone can make a better id - there's none in the documentation it came with.

Thank you for your kindness and info - I don't know a thing about Spathoglottis and Amey thinks it's vandaeceous - my own guess that it moght be a species phal is really only based on its basic shape and size - it's about the size of Phal. bellina. I have no doubt I'm wrong about the species, if only because it doesn't make much sense to coat something rather valuable in gold, but maybe knowing the approximate size would narrow it down. In the meantime, I'll look up that Spath whatever. Thanks again. Maura

You can find info on Spathoglottis plicata at the site below. It does grow in that part of the world. Sorry, I should have provided a link before. You should not have to look anything up or find anything yourself on vacation, especially such a special one.
