First time spag and bag

Hello. I have a very green phalenopsis with no roots! It is starting to show what seems to be the beggining of a new root growth, but it is the size of a pin head. One leaf has a brown, dry spots about the size of a quarter. Another leaf has a brown tip. I did the spag and bag thing, but I have some questions. Does the bag have to be sealed or should I leave some opening? Do I just "rinse and shake" the moss or do I have to put it in the bag soaking wet? Thanks for your help on this.

Only the root base of the orchid plant should touch the sphag moss. The moss should be rinsed and left only damp. The bag should be opened and left in a lower light area. Did you use rooting hormone on the phal root area? You should if you did not. Good luck
