Should I repot my Oncidium?

Should I repot this guy? It's still in the same pot as when I bought it. It seems to be totally root bound, with moss intertwined with the roots. Should I stay with moss or go with a bark blend? I know there have been discussions about what type of medium to use but I'm still not sure. I am afraid of rot with the moss.

I think you could repot or leave it a bit longer, as you please. With the oncid types, I usually wait til they are pretty much climbing out of the pot. Is this a new acquisition? If not, and you haven't had any problems with the moss, I'd stick with it since it looks so healthy. If it is a new one, personally, I'd switch to bark bcs I am a heavy waterer...but they can dry out in bark if you aren't careful. I use a finer bark mix than I do with my catts.

I agree with Kathi--I 'd wait. The plant and roots look good. I also like to let mine really out grow the pot before disturbing them. I prefer the moss as my growing medium for I tend to under water and with my schedule sometimes I am out of town for a couple weeks and the orchids are neglected. I have never lost one due to letting them go that long without water. With that being said that neglect has never happened during spring or summer when they need more water than they do in the winter. I did loose some planted in moss by summering them outdoors and allowing them to get too wet. So I guess it is another one of those personal preference things. Your plant looks great and is a great variety. I love the scent of it.

It looks ok, you can repot it if the plant is going wild to get out of the pot hehehe

I would repot. Most roots in the first picture look brown and soggy.

I would also repot it into a bark mix. My experience is that orchids with pseudobulbs shouldn't ever be in moss. It stays too soggy too long and onicdiums don't like to be kept wet.

I believe you should probably repot; however if your time is like mine lately, it would probably stay in that pot for awhile longer. hahah... The roots seem healthy, but their color concerns me a bit. With it being that root bound, you will need to be sure to check the center of the root ball. I would guess the grower's sphag plug is still there. That plug should be removed as it will rot the roots around it. I wouldn't increase the pot size by much, but would go up one size as to not over pot this oncidium orchid. Look like a really healthy plant though.
